Just Add Hot Sauce's Cool Site of the Week: Brew52.com

If you have ever attended a beer festival (Read my review of the Great Taste of the Midwest) then you know how much fun it is to sample dozens of different brews amongst fellow enthusiasts. Rhett at Brew52.com has come up with a genius idea to place the thrills of a beer festival into an online format that anyone can participate in. Beer52.com is a social group centered on Minnesota beer and revolves around the 52-week calendar year; matching one local brew to each week.

On the site members share their opinions of that week's selection and interact in discussions on brew culture. Membership is free and becoming a reviewer only requires you to contact Rhett himself at rhett@brew52.com. This week's feature is the up and coming Flat Earth Brewery's Belgian Pale Ale.

In addition to each weekly review, frequent gatherings are planned to unite the Brew52.com members for pub crawls, events and social hours. The next meeting is planned for the week of February 4th at either the Town Hall Brewery or The Herkimer- details TBD.

Cheers to you Brew52.com - a concept worthy of the first ever site of the week!

Brew52.com's first social event went down last night at the Herkimer in Uptown. The micro-brewery was kind enough to hook their guests up with free pints of their 'Alt Pale Ale', a very admirable local beer. The crowd was a mix of club creator Rett's friends/family and a bunch of strangers that stumbled on the site (this included us). All together there were 50+ enjoying great conversation and great drinks all under a mutual respect for beer. Check the site often for the next social event and cheers!
